Treasury Report:  Report was submitted by Chris Betzner and approved.

Communications:  We received a thank you from Jean Musselman on behalf of the Heritage Days committee, thanking us for having the bike ride in conjunction with Heritage Days.

Discussion:

a.     Old Business:

Metric Century: Bob Blong reported that we still need a letter (not just a verbal ok) from Peru High School to use the parking lot.  In early April the flyers will go out, and he will need some help.  Bill Click and Rich Holler said that they had discussed the ride route and wanted to discuss some potential problem areas.  The areas in question are Grissom Aeroplex and the Dam road.  Bill and Bob will look into all of this and will discuss it at next month’s meeting.   Linda McCoy will look into the Vocational School printing the route maps and the flyers.  She will get a quote from them for this.   The flyers need to be printed by the end of March

Rail Trail: The group of students from Purdue will be doing the study on the north end of the trail, from Peru to Rochester.  They will be at Denver for a meeting (to be announced later).  Richard Vonegut will be at this meeting, and is encouraging all who can attend the meeting to be there.   We still need to clean up a small portion of the trail in Denver so Norm Fisher can grade the area.

Membership Renewal: No new members.

Website report:  Bill asked Bob to call Bren Kenny and ask him to put the application for the Metric Century on the website.

Bike Rodeo:  Chris Betzner reported that they would be having a meeting February 21 at 9:30 at the YMCA.   The rodeo will be held May 18.  Chris stated that they are concerned that Square D will not be able to donate as much this year because of budget restrictions.  Bill said he will call the plant manager and put in a good word for the rodeo.  Chris said he would have more information at next month’s club meeting.

Bill brought up the possibility of the Xenia trip, and said he will put it in the newsletter for sure this month.  He will also put in the newsletter the need for feedback about the ride schedule.  It was discussed to meet during the week at Miami’s Fort for those who would like to ride together, and there will be no set ride leader for the weeknight rides.  It was also discussed having an “animal ride” one of the weeknight rides.  Also brought up was the possibility of a “dinner ride” for one of the nights.  The weekend rides will stay the same.

National Bike Month: Miles brought up the fact that May is National Bike Month and maybe we could plan some activities around this idea.  Chris Betzner suggested a night ride, and Miles suggested a ride your bike to work promotion. Chris and Miles will check into these and Bill will do more research on Bike Month and we will discuss this further at next month’s meeting.
