 Discussion:

Metric Century Report: (Chris Betzner) The (2,500) brochures have been printed by Modern Graphics at a cost of 277.72.  This included folding of the brochures.  A sponsorship letter has been written to give to current or prospective sponsors.  To date we have received monies from (3) sponsors, Gallahan Oil Company - $25.00, Bean Blossom - $550.00, and Rock Industries - $300.00.  Rock Industries is a new major sponsor this year.  Chris has begun to receive e-mails requesting brochures for the Metric Ride.

(Bill Click)  We are looking at a location in Peoria in place of the SAG at the Mississinewa Dam.  This is because we are unsure rather the Dam area will be open during the ride.  If we have a terrorist alert in either of the top two levels then the Dam area would be closed.  The section of SR 13 that has now been redone will be added back into the route.  This will return our mileage on the “long route” to just under 62 miles long.  Other than these changes, the (3) routes are set.

(Dick Schaffhausen) Not much has changed with the shirts.  The circus theme will be incorporated into the shirts.  Anyone who has a sponsor should get their logo and money and turn in at the bike shop.

Nickel Plate Trail Report: (Bill Click) It looks like the group will be incorporated under the name of Nickel Plate Trail, Incorporated.  Nickel Plate Trial is working on it’s final selections for the board of directors.  They are working hard to have representatives from the three counties where the trail is located.  They are looking at possibly ten to twelve board members.  A list of the board members and the articles and bylaws can be acquired upon request, just send an e-mail to Bill Click for this information.

There is a several hundred-foot area in Denver that has been bulldozed and the roots and debris removed.  Grass seed has been put down and also an area has limestone chip down.

Acquiring a membership for the trail group would be one of the next steps.  This would be done for a minimal fee.  This will most likely be done on an annual basis.

Membership Renewals & New Member Report: NEW MEMBERS: Mike & Myrna Greene, Charlie & Susie Hubler, Craig & Sherry Langley and Richard Reese; RENEWALS: Barry Berglan, Ron Cunningham, Jeff Swift, and Bill & Sarah Wilson.  Currently the club is about 72% renewed based on last year’s membership numbers.

Web Site Report: (Mike Donaldson) Club miles for Thursday the 3rd and Saturday the 5th have been posted.

Special Rides: (Miles Straley) Miles was unable to attend this meeting.  Here is the information as of or last meeting. Dates were set for some special rides this year.  They are as follows:

May 10th – Wabash County Trial – Meeting at Miami’s Fort at 8:00AM

May 31st – Night Ride – Eagles Point – Grissom Aeroplex

July 19th – Ride Across Indiana

Chris Betzner and Miles will be checking into low cost lights for anyone who would like to ride the Night Ride.  Time to be determined for the Night Ride.

The route for the Ride Across Indiana is yet to be determined.  The ride would be approximately 162 miles.  Time and place to meet is to be determined.

Bike Rodeo: (Chris Betzner) Richard Vonnegut will be handling the instruction for the Rodeo.  Anyone who could work with Richard on this could become a bike safety instructor.  If you are interested in this please contact Chris Betzner.  We will need (4) people to fit helmets, (3) people to handle the obstacle course, and at least (1) person to pump up tires.  This year the there will be (5) bikes to raffle.

Meeting was adjourned.
