Meeting Minutes: Minutes from November meeting were submitted and approved.
Treasury Report: Report from November was submitted and approved.
Communications:
Break-Away Bike Club Newsletter, (2 copies) IBC (Ad Request For Metric
Century), Europe Express (European Walking & Biking Specials 2004), IBC
(Donation Request), La Cima Tours (European Bike Tours), Luke Becknell (Race
Coast To Coast, of Indiana).
Discussion: Officer Nominations and Elections: (Chris
Betzner) Nominations are Miles Straly for President, Rich Holler for Vice
President, Chris Betzner for Treasurer, and Mike Donaldson for Secretary. All positions are unopposed.
Bill Click motioned that the officers be elected as nominated, with a
second from Chris Betzner. All
elections passed unanimously. 2004 Metric Century: (Chris
Betzner) Chris Betzner volunteered to be the Metric Century Coordinator for this
year. We will work towards a more
committee run organization. As it
stands right now, the committees will be SAGS, Registration, Food, Sponsorship,
Route and Mapping, and Equipment and Supplies.
Currently we have some positions preliminarily spoke for.
Registration by Mike Donaldson, Equipment and Supplies by Miles Straly
and Route and Mapping by Bill Click. Nickel Plate Trail Donation: (Bill
Click) A big “Thank You” from the Nickel Plate Trail for the $500.00 to
register for its 501C3. Nickel
Plate Trail, Inc. Report:
(Bill Click) Currently the Nickel Plate Trail board is meeting with a landscape,
architectural and design firm to look at setting up a master plan for the trail
development. The application for the 501C3 has been submitted, however it could take the state weeks to possibly months to process and respond to the application. The
trail area between Wallic Road and 300 S has been cleared. The
Kokomo Rotary is still a possibility for sponsorship for a trailhead near
Kokomo. Relay
For Life:
Look at setting up riders to ride a stationary bike to help raise money.
Tabled and will be added to next month’s agenda. Info
from November’s Minutes: (The club is being asked to consider riding a
stationary bike for the Relay For Life, which will be in the spring of 2004. We would need to setup riders to ride for certain time
intervals during the event. We
would get people to sponsor us for an amount of money for each hour we ride.
This Item will be placed on next month’s agenda.) Year End Event / New Season Kick-off:
The
event would be after the 1st of the year. Tabled and will be added to next month’s agenda. Info from November’s Minutes: (There was a discussion of having a
dinner at the Peru Civic Center after the 1st of the year, however we
may move that back farther and make this more of an event for “kicking off”
the riding season in the spring. It
was discussed that maybe a cookout or some kind of meal at the depot in Peru in
March or April.) Membership Renewals & New Member Report:
(0) - NEW MEMBERS; (0) – RENEWALS. Letters
with a 2004 membership renewal form will be sent out soon. Other Business: IBC Donation: We received a letter from the IBC asking for an end
of year donation. There was a
motion from Chris Betzner with a second from Mike Donaldson to give $50.00 to
the IBC, which is at their Half Century Donation level. High Milers: There was a motion from Mike Donaldson and a second
from Chris Betzner that the club give our top three mile riders gift
certificates. Our
top three riders were Rich Holler with 1,372.03 miles, Miles Straly 935.00 miles
and Wally Woodhams with 759.08 miles. Rich
will get $10.00 gift certificates from Citgo and Harvey Hinklemeyers, Miles and
Wally will get a $10.00 gift certificate from Harvey Hinklemeyers.
