Bicycle Club, 3. Indiana Bicycle Coalition letter and January/February
Newsletter, 4. Bicycle Tour of Colorado info letter. Discussion: Metric Century Report: (Chris Betzner) Chris brought the Metric Century brochure proof for everyone to look over. Modern Graphics will print the brochure. Last year it cost ~$260.00 to have (2,500) brochures printed. Pricing should be similar this year. (Bill Click) Route design is yet to be determined. The weather has not cooperated with driving the route with all the snow. There is some concern about the areas around Mississinewa Dam being open for the Metric Century. Bill Click will contact Jeff Swift to get more details. (Dick
Schaffhausen) Printing of the shirts last year was done by A & A Screen
Printing. Dick will be checking
there or maybe with other printing shops for pricing.
Dick said he wanted the shirts to incorporate the circus theme.
He has had several ideas about how this can be done.
The consensus of the group was to “go for it” and surprise us.
Also the size and placing of sponsor’s logo’s was briefly discussed. Nickel Plate Trail Report: (Bill Click) Friends of the Nickel Plate Trial will be organizing as a not-for-profit group. Along with this, they are working on selecting a board of directors. It was mentioned that Miles Straly was one who was being looked at as a director. There was a motion and second in favor of Miles representing the club as a director on the trail board. It was discussed that special groups would construct some of the trail bridges. Northwestern University and the Eagle Scouts would be two of the groups that would be doing this kind of work The
trail will have a booth at this year’s Peru Chamber Expo.
Mike Kuepper will be donating the use of his trade booth for this event. 2003

We would like to add a page supporting the Nickel Plate Trail.
The site is ready to record and display club miles. Special
Rides:
(Miles Straley) Dates were set for some special rides this year.
They are as follows:
May 10th – Wabash County Trial – Meeting at Miami’s
Fort at 8:00AM
May 31st – Night Ride – Eagles Point – Grissom Aeroplex
July 19th – Ride Across Indiana Chris
Betzner and Miles will be checking into low cost lights for anyone who would
like to ride the Night Ride. Time
to be determined for the Night Ride. The
route for the Ride Across Indiana is yet to be determined.
The ride would be approximately 162 miles. Time and place to meet is to be determined. Bike
Rodeo:
(Chris Betzner) The Bike Rodeo this year will be held May the 17th. This year (250) helmets will given out to children for this
event. As in years past the event
will be held a the Peru YMCA. There
will bike inspections and bike tires will be pumped up. The club will be responsible for (4) people to fit helmets, a
person to oversee the riding course, as well as possibly helping with the
inspections, and possibly (1) person give the bike safety lesson.
A motion and second were given for the club to donate $300.00 this year
toward helmets; this is up from the $250.00, which was given last year for the
event. Bike
Shop Letter:
It was mentioned that it would be a good idea for the club to have a letter
along with a membership form for the Breakaway Bike Shop to enclose with each
bike that they sell. Chris Betzner
agreed this would be a good thing to do. Mike
Donaldson will write and print out this information and get it to the Bike Shop
to use. This was motioned and
seconded. Dog
Problems:
(Bill Click) Bill mentioned that if anyone has problems with dogs they should
get information such owners name and address as well as detailing the incident
that took place with the dog. This
information will then be composed into a letter that will be sent to county
officials. This is in hope that these problem dogs will be dealt with in
the future, specially if the dog is a habitual problem for bike riders. Club
Jerseys:
Club jerseys were brought up during this meeting.
Currently there are about (6) people signed up for jerseys.
We must have a least (12) people sign up to make a minimum order.
If you would like to sign up the list is in the Breakaway Bike &
Fitness Shop. Meeting
was adjourned. Submitted
