Communications: Habitat for Humanity Ride Information, IBC Ride Calendar

Discussion:

2004 Metric Century: (Chris Betzner) We will need to finish up with the sponsors over the next couple of weeks. Wabash REMC sponsored for $100.00, Rent-a-trail sponsored for $150.00, and Bean Blossom sponsored for $300.00.

The brochures are yet to be printed. Cost is to be approximately $330.00 for 2,000 folded copies. We hope to have the Metric brochure done and ready for mailing by the May meeting.

An e-mail will be sent out by Mike Donaldson to all members asking for any additional sponsors or any ideas for SAG entertainment to be sent to Chris Betzner as soon as possible.

Habitat For Humanity: (Miles Straly) Si Iato Si will sponsor Miles Straly for this ride. Miles will start at South Bend and will need someone to ride a few of the last legs for him. The sorority will contribute Mile’s entry fee of $200.00 and the club will contribute $150.00 as a sponsor.

Nickel Plate Trail, Inc. Report: (Bill Click) Brochures were sent out for the first membership drive. To date, over $6,530.00 has come in though corporate and individual contributions. The NPT will be applying for a RTP grant, which could bring in $187,000.00. There is also a possibility of over 37,500.00 in matching funds that could be raised. Currently, all monies raised would cover several miles of trail in the surrounding Peru area.

Relay For Life: (Chris Betzner) The event will be June the 18th and 19th. Chris Betzner will be the club’s captain for this event and is currently working on signing up people to spin for the event. There is a $10.00 charge for each person who rides, which the club will pay. This was mentioned by Bill Click and seconded by Rich Holler.

Bike Rodeo: (Chris Betzner) Bill Click made a motion the club contribute $300.00 towards the helmets and a second was received from Rich Holler. The bike course would be handled by the Riley Riders instructors and should be more organized than years in the past.

Xenia Ride: (Bill Click) A reminder e-mail will be sent out by Mike Donaldson to make sure everyone who wishes to go has signed up.

Membership Renewals & New Member Report: (1) – RENEWAL: Bob & Alexandria Blong; (0) – NEW MEMBERSHIPS. Currently the club is about 50% renewed based on last year’s membership numbers. This is running over 20% behind last year at this time.

Other Business:

Secretary’s Position: (Mike Donaldson) Mike Donaldson announced that due to busy family and work schedule he would be stepping down as secretary after the July meeting. In an effort to "not let the club down" he will continue any duties concerning the Metric Century until that time. After that time he will only maintain the web site, at least until the end of the year.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:30PM
