Treasurer's Report: Chris Betzner was unable to attend, but sent
a report for the months of Jun-Aug 2005. All outstanding bills have been
paid, except for $131, due to IBC for the Metric Century Ride. The club
account's balance is in good shape at this time. Figures can be provided
to any member who desires them.
Web Site - Logging of Club Miles: The problem of not having
the miles ridden on club rides recorded on the website was discussed. The
secretary was tasked to forward all miles for 2005 to Mike Donaldson to see if
he can update the site with the new figures. Note: If any ride
leaders have not turned mileage in at the bike shop, please do so now and I
will pass them on to Mike.
Nickel Plate Trail Report: Dawn Kroh, Green 3, has been chosen as
the Project Administrator. It is still possible that the first paving
(Phase 1) will be accomplished yet this fall. Harry Denham has the
bridge at CR 300S ready for concrete. Phase 1 will run from Wallick
Road to CR 300S and possibly further. Bill Click finished decking the
Birmingham Bridge today. Community Service members have been working
weekends in details clearing sections of trail.
Club Rides: The three current weekly rides will continue for the
remaining of the year, dependant on weather. To review, they are
Thursday afternoon, 5 p.m., Miami's Fort; Saturday 8 a.m., Breakaway Bike
Shop; and Sunday, 1:30 p.m., Owen's Marathon, Mexico. Exceptions to
the Saturday ride are three special rides in October:
On Oct 1 we plan to ride the Cardinal Trail. Members should meet
at Miami's Fort at 7 a.m. We will car pool over to Marion and eat
breakfast on the way. Those who wish to can meet us at the Miller
Avenue Trailhead (this side of Marion off SR 18) at 8:30 p.m.
Oct 14-16 is the Hilly Hundred. If you plan to cycle/camp with the
club, contact Miles ASAP. A regular club ride may occur from the
Breakaway Bike Shop on Oct 15, but attendance is not guaranteed.
On Oct 22 we will ride the Wabash County Trail. Meet at Miami's
Fort at 7 a.m. and we will cycle to the trail.
John suggested we "cherry pick" several rides other than the
Hilly Hundred and try to get several club members to attend. The
members were all in general agreement. We will look at doing that in
2006.
(This resolution has been withdrawn) - LOHUT- A motion was made by
Miles Straly and seconded by Bob Blong to send the Miami County Council a
resolution of support for the Local Option Highway User Tax (LOHUT).
Discussion by the club was that without such a source of funds local roads
will soon deteriorate. The motion was approved with four yes votes and
one abstention. Miles will draft and deliver the letter.
Nominating Committee - John Miller and Chris Betzner were appointed as
a nominating committee to come up with a slate of 2006 officers. They
were tasked to try to find some new blood to fill some of the positions.
Meeting Time/Date - It was discussed that the second Tuesday of each
month, 7:30 p.m., may not be the ideal date/time for our meetings. This
will be a topic on the October agenda. If you will not be at that
meeting, please forward your inputs.
Fall Get Together - It was generally agreed that we would like to meet
in the late fall, possibly Nov 12-13. Meeting places discussed were the
Peru Depot, Denver Community Center, and Miami County Fairgrounds.
Miles and Bill will check those out and report back.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by President Bob at
8:40 p.m. The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m., October 11.
Respectfully submitted,
Miles Straly
