Monthly Minutes of the Circus City Cyclists

Date: Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Firehouse

Vice-President Sharon Johnston called the meeting to order at 7:46 p.m.

Attendance: VP Sharon Johnston, Secy. John Miller, Bill Click, Rich Holler and Wally Woodhams. Michael Miller had a previous engagement.

Secretary’s Report: Minutes went by.

Treasurer’s Report: No report.

Miami County Trail: Next meeting will be Tuesday, June 19th at 3:00 PM at the museum. Miles, John, Wally and Jeff Bingham need to be there with their routes laid out.

Southeast- Wally; Southwest- Jeff; Northeast- Miles; Northwest-John.

Spaghetti ride: Eddie Garcia is hosting a Tuesday ride originating from Eagles Pointe. Location is 2407 Lowry Avenue, Peru . Start time is 5:30 PM. It is a 29- mile route thru Pipe Creek. End time is 7:30 PM with spaghetti dinner courtesy of the Garcia’s.

Nickel Plate Trail: Bill gave an update. We hope to do a fat tire ride soon to include unpaved sections of the trail. Ideas on the best route would be appreciated.

Fat Tire Trail Ride: Tentative date of Sunday, June 24 to take in either Salamonie Reservoir Trails, Huntington Reservoir Trails ( Roush Lake ) or back to the Boys’ Club at Winona Lake . Breakaway Bike has maps of the Salamonie trail.

Club Jerseys : Orders have been placed for individuals and there will be some extra merchandise available at Breakaway. Jerseys were not in as of this week.

First Ever CCC Poker Run, June: Poker run was well attended with 12 riders doing approximately 68 miles on June 9th.

Mini-triathlon: The Mayor’s Wellness Council is planning a mini-triathlon on June 16th to include the swim at Miller’s Pool and run and bicycle from Maconaquah Park . If you have questions re the Mayor’s Wellness Council events, check the website www.cityofperu.org or contact Shannon See at Breakaway or e-mail her at sstoner@hotmail.com.

Regular club rides: Regular club ride times are in effect which will include our regular club ride for this Sunday, June 17 (Father’s Day).

N.I.T.E. (Navigate Indy This Evening) Ride June 30: Sponsored by CIBA, my wife’s favorite ride starts at 11:00 PM at the Major Taylor Velodrome in Indy. Track races, merchandise tent, fireworks, live music, the circle at night and decent food make this an annual favorite. Rich, Sharon and others are planning to go and may include the Monon Trail again.

Sunstroke 74, July 4: Sponsored by the Breakaway Bike Club in Kokomo . Originates from the Trek dealer in Kokomo .

Hilly Hundred: Info is out for the anniversary of this great fall classic in mid-October. Miles has advised that as far as he knows we can camp at his sister’s place that is between the ride site and Spencer , IN.

Dues Renewal: Thank you to our members that have renewed. There is a membership form at circuscitycyclists.org and also at Breakaway Bike Shop. Miles will be sending out a letter so if you haven’t renewed yet, please do so.

Next meeting: Second Thursday at 7:30 PM (July 11) at First Christian Church.
