Monthly Minutes of the Circus City Cyclists

Date: Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the First Christian Church

Secretary John Miller called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.

Attendance: VP Sharon Johnston, Secy. John Miller, and Rich Holler.

Secretary’s Report: John read the highlights of August meeting.

Treasurer’s Report: Zac was not present and no report available.

MiCounty Trail: The club is awaiting word re next meeting. Miles will contact.

Nickel Plate Fat Tire ride: Five club riders completed the ride on Sunday, Aug 26th from Miami ’s Fort and rode the Nickel Plate south to Bunker Hill, Bennetts Switch, Miami and Cassville and back.

2^nd Annual Mighty Mississinewa Triathlon: Wally Woodhams participated.

Tour de Crossroads: Sept 22 in West Lafayette . Flat 15, challenging 40, 50 and 62-mile routes. See my e-mail sent late July for the attachment or website: http://www.tourdecrossroads.org or e-mail: tourdecrossroads@mac.com.

Hilly Hundred: Oct 12-14. Miles has invited club members to camp at his sister’s house near McCormick’s Creek State Park . Miles plans to be at his sister Marge’s house around 5:00 PM for a ride in the park, drive to pick up ride packages and then dinner. Registration is now $52.00. Rich, Sharon and hopefully the Blongs are planning on camping and Wally and John have registered.

Nickel Plate Trail: I think that Miles told me the dinner raised $1,900.00 for the trail. The last I heard, we were waiting on Indiana Trail Fund to proceed with deeding the trail to the Nickel Plate so paving can be done yet this fall.

Regular club rides: Regular club ride times are in effect but see below. Rich mentioned that Owen’s Marathon in Mexico has changed ownership. Sharon to check to see if it is still ok for the club to meet there for our Sunday rides.

Wabash County Trail: Club is planning to ride the Wabash County Trail in place of our regular Saturday ride this next Saturday, September 22. Meet at Miami ’s Fort at 8:00 AM. It will be a long ride so bring money for lunch.

Cardinal Trail: Also in preparation for the Hilly Hundred, we plan to ride the Cardinal Trail the next Saturday, September 29. Plan to meet at Miami ’s Fort at 7:00 AM. We will drive to Sweetser and begin the bike ride there at the small trail at Sweetser on to connect with the Cardinal Trail.

Club miles: Discussion on how many members need to be present for a non-club ride to count toward club miles was tabled until the next meeting.

Next meeting: Second Thursday at 7:30 PM (October 11) at First Christian Church.
