The Circus City Metric Century has become one of the most popular bicycle tours in the Midwest. Several new improvements make the 2009 ride the best ever. We have a new staging area, the Peru Armory, with warm showers available upon completion of the ride.
This year’s ride will be the safest ever, with all of the miles on paved trail or secondary county roads, with very few busy intersections involved. Families with children will enjoy the fact that the 17-mile and 32-mile routes are almost entirely on the famous Nickel Plate Trail.
The Nickel Plate Trail crosses several streams and goes through beautiful secluded woods. The view from atop the Pipe Creek Bridge, just outside Bunker Hill is spectacular! The 50-mile and 65-mile routes also include the entire paved length of the Nickel Plate Trail, however they also include many of the most scenic spots in North Central Indiana.
Sights along the longer routes include the Wabash and Mississinewa Rivers, Mississinewa Lake, the International Circus Hall of Fame, and historic Seven Pillars. SAG stops at three separate locations are well stocked with nutritious snacks.
Prompt emergency service is available over each of the routes.
